Question:
LDS, what's more important to you, the bible or the book of Mormon?
Answer:
That's a really good question. One that a lot of people actually wonder.
Let me ask you, what's more important to you, the book of Revelations or the Book of John? Or perhaps the book of Deuteronomy or the book of Isaiah? How about the Old Testament or the New Testament?
Both are important and both help us come to know God, IF we study them with the same Spirit in which they were written - by the gift and power of the Holy Ghost.
Just as the Bible is the record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Middle East, the prophecies given to prophets and apostles there, and of Christ's mortal ministry to the people there... the Book of Mormon is the record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the America's, the prophecies given to prophets and disciples there, and of Christ's post-mortal ministry to His people there shortly after His resurrection.
Isn't is amazing to have another record that validates and confirms the Bible's teachings, that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and that mankind must be Saved through Him! If you have questions about it, feel free to ask us or another member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that you know. More importantly, I would recommend reading it to find out for yourself. Don't just read it though, pray about it and ask God. I would never recommend searching for truth without involving Him who is the Fountain of all Truth.
I have read the Book of Mormon, as well as the Bible, several times. I know that I have come closer to Christ because of the Book of Mormon and has truly helped me come to KNOW Him. Good luck and feel free again to ask if you have any other questions about the Book of Mormon.
Thank you for your honest question.
